Most science fiction and horror movies and comic books generate toys relating to those titles. An enormously popular movie character turned toy character is Godzilla. First introduced in Japan in the 1950s, Godzilla has attained a global cult audience. Thousands of toy characters in Godzilla’s likeness have been created. If you like this fire-breathing prehistoric monster, chances are you want to collect the many Godzilla action figures ever made.

Whether you name him Godzilla or Gojira, there is no argument that the giant green lizard is maybe Japan’s greatest import, at least next to Hello Kitty and that Asahi beer. Initially a frightening monster and symbol for the nuclear attack, Godzilla altered over the years since he debuted in 1954, as film director Eji Tsuburaya discovered that his largest group of followers were kids, with all of their luscious licensing dollars.

Kaiju collecting can speedily become a very expensive as well as fanatical fad. Since the 1960s the kaiju collector has had an escalating number of toys to spend their hard earned money on, and for most fans, the most enjoyable bit of enjoying a collection is to look for that uncommon poster, lobby, card, tin toy, etc. Strangely enough, the earliest collectible Godzilla toy was not even created in Japan, but was the America model kit made by Aurora. For the majority of fans though, the most liked sought after collectible is not that hard to find poster, CD or model kit. For most fans, the most popular and commonly collected Godzilla collectibles are the vinyl Godzilla toys which have remained popular for over 30 years.
