Disclaimer: This post is based on information publicly available in the popular press and medical journals that deal with weight loss. Nothing herein is intended to be or should be construed to be any sort of medical advice. For medical advice the reader should consult with his or her physician or other medical specialist.

With a quick search on the internet, one will find that there are seriously thousands of weight loss methods being promoted online. It is no wonder that sentences such as “how to lose weight” are among the most heavily searched in the health/fitness category. Among the most popular are the products that contain some sort of miracle ingredient from another country, such as the brand new guarana pure scam. With the acai craze dying down, guarana seems to be aiming for the top of the very same market. Although actual experiences are hard to come by, the product seems to be doing extremely well when used with regular diet/exercise.

The acai buzz isn’t completely over though. There is a recent product that has become very hot in the niche. It is called acai berry blast scam and it is excellent tasting while helping you shed pounds. It is perfect for the coming warm months to look skinnier and better around other people especially when wearing a bathing suit.

Lastly, there is a 3rd category of fat burning products that are sweeping the nation by storm known as vegetable cleanses. They supposedly work similar to other cleanses but they include the antioxidant powers of veggies. A new product in this niche is called the veggie 9 cleanse which includes many leafy green vegetables that are said to have healing properties for the body.

  • Are The Top Pros Any Good For Golf Swing Instructions?

Posted on June 11th, 2009 Contributing Author No comments

If you are looking for golf swing tips, that may seem like a silly question. You may think that of course the top professional golfers are great for golf swing tips, because who wouldn’t want to play like Tiger Woods, right?

    Wrong.

Yes, of course we do all dream of playing like him and the other champion golfers, but with all due respect, it seems to me that there two main reasons why Tiger Woods would probably not be particularly good as your teacher.

The first reason is that he is not a teacher, he is a professional golf player. His job, how he makes his living, is to compete in golf tournaments. He does not make his living as an instructor, so he has probably not had much (if any) experience or training in how to teach beginners or amateur players. Less gifted players have difficulties and questions that the top players may never have needed to address.

Even if they do have some of the same problems, before every practice or tournament round that he plays, while a champion golfer goes through his hour long warm up working though his bag of clubs, he will be watched. He will be watched by maybe his fitness instructor, maybe his psychologist, but absolutely he will be watched by his coach! It is the coach that is the teacher, not the player.

In fact most champion pros, and Woods is no exception, will have changed their swing and other major points of their game at some point in their career. When they did, you can bet they did not do it all by themselves. They did it under instruction from their coach.

The second reason why the pros might not be the best guide to follow, is that their shots are tailored to their style of game and their own physique and muscular structure. There is a huge variety of different styles when it comes to the swing. The intended end result is exactly the same for all of them, but each player goes about it in the way that best suits them.

This is a key point, because your most effective golf swing will be the one that makes the most efficient use of the body you have. Although it may be useful to watch instructional videos showing various different approaches, in the end you will not receive your most effective golf swing instructions from copying another person, as their swing has been honed for their own individual body.

These two key points are good reasons why you if you want to improve your game with good golf swing instructions, seek golf swing tips from a teacher rather than a competing professional player.

  • A Trip to the Dog Park

Posted on June 11th, 2009 Contributing Author No comments

There is a neighborhood near my house where just about every household has at least one dog. Many of the families living there have two or three dogs. As a result, not only is the neighborhood very noisy, but it is also very dog friendly.

Most of my neighbors are getting on in age. The dogs around here seem to fall into two categories – lap dogs or barely old enough to climb up and down their front steps. I know my dog is rather lonely and bored.

Awhile ago, as I was walking my dog through the next neighborhood, I started thinking, “wouldn’t it be nice if I could introduce my dog to some of these dogs?” Then, just as I turned the corner, I was pleasantly surprised to find a brand new, roped off dog park.

On the inside of the fence surrounding this dog park, there were about a dozen dogs running free from their dog leashes with one another. The dogs were jumping and playing and having a good old time.

I took my dog to the gate and he just couldn’t contain his excitement. I let him off his leash and he ran to the middle of the pack. I huddled around the fence with the other doggy parents as we watched our pups play with their dog toys.

I started making friends with the other “regular” dog owners after about a week of taking my dog to the dog park. We started making plans to go out for coffee once or twice a week to a shop nearby where we could sit outside with our dogs.

Now our activities regularly include gathering at the dog park and then walking to the local coffee shops. We take outings with the dogs, like to the river, and spend time with other dogs in the park. Dog walking in my neighborhood has truly helped me form a network of close friends that I feel comfortable spending a solid 1-2 hours with several times a week.

My dog now always looks for and expects his new people friends to join us when we’re walking alone. As soon as I take him off the leash, he runs as fast as he can to the doggy park! We are lucky to have so many dog friends and like-minded families living near us.
